ok what can i do to dye a piece of leather a golden brown or the color of the shade of a card board box. looking for a natural dye the leather piece i have is almost grey it is to be the handle wrap for a bow.

well, i see a few options. you can buy leather dye fiebings is one company that does alchohol-based dyes. Or you could go primitive and smoke it like you would braintan. This would be a big project and unpredictable. Or perhaps just seek out another piece that's already the color you want? Goodwill or salvation army type stores often have cheap leather

i got to thinking would rit dye work if i used it with alcohol instead of water?
-
not sure if that would work.

I have mixed rit dye with denatured alcohol to use on bows.

Try soaking the leather in a warm strong coffee solution.
