Title: simple osage
Post by: mspink on December 28, 2011, 09:07:13 pm
Hey got an osage, 57" tip to tip, 45 lbs @ 27", little set. Made from a 2" diameter tree, A bit over an inch at the widest. Lot of character, has a valley dug out on belly side to get rid of a rotten heart. Enjoy.

Howdy MSPink,

Looks like you took a piece of kindling and turned it into a nice bow.   That took a lot of skill.
It's a fine reminder to us all that one doesn't need an absolutely perfect, straight grained stave to get a really fine bow.

Thanks for sharing,
Canoe

Ha. Thats funny dragonman, I dont know i might be part pixie. Thanks for the comments guys. This bow still has my hands hurting from working around all those knots. Sure took a while. Was a lot of fun though!

Love it!I agree with Blackhawk, You read the wood perfectly and were able to reveal the bow hidden in that sapling. Well done

You got to love that, just beautiful.Very nice job on a very challenging piece of wood.  :) Did you leave the sap wood on that one ? kind of looks like you did. :)
Sonny use to do that on small diameter trees or limbs of Osage. :)

Pappy, the ring I worked down to is almost 100% heart except for a couple small places where it hadnt transformed yet. And the very tips have a bit.
