Title: My new (old) bow
Post by: FlintWalker on July 29, 2007, 06:56:05 pm
This is a bow I made back in March. It was my second bow ever and my first osage. Some of you who were at Clarksville saw it though I doubt any of you would remember it because it looked totally different. No skins, no beaver tail and thick tips. At first, I wasn't crazy about it but since i've prettied it up a bit, i'm really proud of it.
It's 59" ntn 1-1/4" wide tapering down to just under 3/8". It draws around 55#@ 28" and shoots plenty fast with no noticable noise or shock. The copperhead skins are glued on with Titebond II, as well as the beavertail grip. I ran into the same problem with the skins being too short as Greg B did on his copperhead skinned bow. I don't mind though, I kinda like them that way.
I've really learned a lot with this little bow and hope to teach a big buck a thing or two with it this fall also.  I'll get a full draw picture posted as soon as my wife takes one for me. Thanks for looking

Here's ya'll a full draw shot.  The upper limb looks hinged but it's just a hump that fools the eye. I got most of it out but was afraid to push my luck any farther with it.

AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a realy slick looking bow. I really like the way you did he snake skin on the tips. And the beaver skin handle wrap is really unique!!!!!!!!!! How did you tan it, if you did? It looks like it would shoot fast, but I dont know squat ;D. Just learnin the game. But even us newbys can be inpressed. And I am.

You did a great job Shannon.  The beaver tail grip is as nice of a grip as I have seen.  I'm real impressed with the changes.  Justin

Nice!  Plenty of character, cool-looking, short and effective.  I'd like to make one like that.
