this is a blade I'm making to send to someone and the ? is what handle do you guy's prefer, horn, bone or wood. guess that's almost a survey ;D, anyway i'm undecided, Bub(http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt320/bubncheryl/knapping/Picture001-1.jpg)

I'm also gonna make a similar neck knife to go with it
-
I like bone with a high polish, it gives it a slight luminescent green look.

here's the pair of blades, just finished the skinner up,Bub(http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt320/bubncheryl/knapping/Picture005-3.jpg)

Like horn to but the rite wood may be cool if you had a selection of the different handles that would be cool to see side by side...awsome blades by the way!
-
Great blades there Bub! I've almost always used antler and like the way it looks and feels but that last one i made with the deer leg bone was a keeper too. I really don't think it matters as long as it's all home made..
-
Shape of the handle and a good solid hafting is primary,of course good looking material is always cool. Any of those materials would work.
-
ya know i just remembered i've got some spalted maple i got from halfeye, down to that or horn, Bub
-
Spalted maple would look nice! I did one like that recently with a TN black blade. I like it.
-
here they are hafted up, I went with the walnut, I think they came out allright, just gotta make some sheath's now, Bub(http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt320/bubncheryl/neck%20knife/Picture002-9.jpg)

Good call! Those are very well done!

thank's guy's, I got the spalted maple ruffed out, but i'm a sucker for nice walnut
I filed a groove around the hilt and feathered it out so there is a smooth transition from the rap to the wood, Bub

Beautiful work. :)
