Post by: foxfyre841 on November 22, 2011, 02:22:57 pm
I've found a number of resources that are European.
eg:
BUT:  not so much stateside (USA).

Looking for 78" to 80" bamboo.  Intending to build a lemonwood or Ipe main warbow.

Best Regards,
James

bamboo on a warbow ????? ???
It's certainly not 'period', but bamboo makes an excellent backing for heavy weight bows. It's probably the strongest tension material there is for backing a bow.

If you're looking for bamboo backing strips, try David Knight at www.primalneedarchery.com. He's a paid advertiser on PA, and has excellent bow making materials.

I've ordered from David Knight before and when I needed 76" boo for my warbow I got it from Richard Saffold.
