When a friend and her new husband came to our house for a visit, she got to shooting with me for a bit, and before they left decided she wanted one, so I just put the finishing touches on one for her. I named it Orion (Pronounced O'ryan) after 'The Archer' constellation. This one was an interesting one to tiller, the swoop above the handle was a hindrance for a while, but I think I got the hang of it. It turned out to be a pretty good bow, it shoots nice and straight. She wanted it to be legal for deer hunting, so I made it 42lbs@25", and 62"ntn for safety. It started out with about 1 1/2" of reflex and ended up barely past straight when rested. The bow is a little over 1-1/14" wide for the most part, tapering to 1/2" nocks. The handle had a cut in it, I don't know what it was from, but it grew in the tree. This I filled with sawdust and glue, and sinew wrapped the area. I like this bow, but I'm happy to be giving it to someone who I know will appreciate it.

p.s., Josh just corrected me on the name, so, it's named after the 'hunter' constellation. Not the archer one. ;)

A fine bow with a lot of character :)

Sean,
You sure build a nice bow. The pictures are great, too. I know that Orion was 'the hunter' but I don't think he had a bow. I could be wrong. Sagittarius was the archer--hence the great archery book Sagittarius and Jaro's online name.
Again, great work.

Thanks so much, yes it was difficult, it didn't want to behave for me, but I tamed it! ;)
Here are the pictures I promised.

Yes, Josh, now that I think about it, you're right, but she might go hunting with it, so it's ok? :)
I like the name anyway.........
and thanks.

Orion 'the Hunter.' Seems awefully appropriate to me. Orion is a way better constellation anyway. ;)
