cool toy!!!! I want some hickory backing strips please! ;D
-
this log has been sitting in a pile of firewood , and is just for testing the saw . i figured if it would cut seasoned hickory it would cut anything. my plan josh is to turn out a bunch of backing strips and cores . i have hickory , white and red oak , beech, sycamore , cypress , ash , mulberry , american hornbeam, sweet gum, and a little black walnut.soon as i get up and running good ill have some for trade and such!
-
Hey Ken, if you happen across any burls and can cut them to reasonably sized pieces I'd love to try to work out a deal with you.
-
awesome! I'll be in touch when you got some hick strips friend. ;D ;D ;D
-
sounds good josh.
jon i have a red oak burl here thats about three foot by two foot by two foot high , i plan to cut it up big enough for risers or knife pistol handles, ill let you know when its ready

Most guys look forward to the weekend when they can saw some logs....in their recliner! You just happen to be a bit more literal about your sawing!

Sure it will. Just none of YOURS, George. That snakey crap would crawl off before the blades got near it!
>:D

Nooooo! I've been good, really! And I'll be better! I promise! :'(
-
thanks guys im sure this thing will supply a lot of us in the future . george ship me a tough 30 inch log and lets see
-
O my, wonder how much it'll weigh?? I'll see what I have. O I know, I have a billet length piece I brought in the shot to rip on my band saw and it wouldn't do it. Might be too small for your mill though. I'll check it out tomorrow.

So... Ken,
I can only assume that since you're not posting the usual 5-10 bows per month lately, you must be spending your time accumulating a massive stock pile of bow wood! Got any pictures of your stash?
I'd sure be interested in acquiring some hickory...

i have been looking fir 80inch hickory backings ;)
-
My buddy has a 40 hp Woodmizer. It has paid for itself twice over. I bet yours will do the same Ken. Cool new toy for sure.
-
Cam , been taking a break for hunting season, im still working on a few bows just not seriously.
Fish , shipping on 80 inch anything is nasty
Pearly i gave less than a thousand for this one so it shouldnt take long
-
Very cool! Ill be watching for Hickory backing strips too! :D Im jelous!

The guilt would keep me awake at night Ken, thief......less tha a grand for any size, any shape portable sawmill is dirt cheap! One of those hickory logs turned into 1/4 sawn backers will pay for it twice and half man.
-
Wow, that's a nice litle toy, Ken. I have a big ol' cedar log I'd be tempted to head north with.
-
Sign me up for some Mulberry! I could use a bit of that. It sounds like your new toy might get you a bunch of trade ideas!
-
You better get to ripping ken...cus it sounds like your already backlogged(pun intented)and already have a list of clients waiting
