Title: saturday morning maple board bow.
Post by: youngbowyer on October 22, 2011, 11:38:40 pm
Picked up 2 pieces of maple at home depot last Friday. This board was so light and easy to work i immediately fell in love with it. I must say this is one of the best ones I have made so far. I have made 3 osage bows, 2 yew bows, a hickory bow, 1 red oak longbow, but this is the bow that shoots the best. She is 63 '' ntn and pulls 38# at 26". She shoots very fast and hits hard. Tiller looks off in the picture but its tillered quite well actually.  Its the only bow that shoots my broadheads fast and hard without the zigzag. Outshoots my recurve too. I already almost took a doe with it. (http://i415.photobucket.com/albums/pp235/tombowyer/maplebowstring.jpg)

I think your tiller looks just fine. Good job! I am also a big fan of maple. Just one question, however, does your Mom know you're shooting in the house???  ;)

Good Job on that bow, is it hard maple or soft maple? They say soft maple is not bow wood but some of my fastest shooters were soft maple.

Howdy YB,

I don't know if I'm more impressed by your bowhunting or by your bow.

You are an inspiration ;)

All the Best,
Canoe
