thanks guys. as i worked this down i started seeing the different colors and translucency. definitely the prettiest piece of obsidian ive ever seen.

black hawk this was abo. mostly hard hammer but i switched to a n antler billet as it got thin, then some tine work.

tower the only reason i do obsidian work is because it sells. the knife maker i do blades for has had a mook knife i did for him with purple, red and yellow bands. he has had it at every show hes done and it wont sell. every piece of obsidian i give him goes that weekend. i could make a twelve inch rhyolite solutrean and nobody will like it. but they love the shiny obsidian. im just sick of bleeding from the stuff

You got to talk nice to it. It is almost all that I use. I don't get bad cuts from it often.

man people are nuts not to buy any of your points, I work lots of obs but i like mook and root beer and all that material better, maybe cause i don't get much of it, Bub

I have a love/hate relationship with obsidian, too.  Like you, I can make some great stuff but also like you, I cut the snot out of myself and I really hate digging for invisible flakes.  You can feel them when you push in or when the tip of the knife hits them but you can't see them.  Bill

-
exactly bill. its not the flakes its the dust.

-
				That's a biggun Jamie - nice!

-
Dang.  hmmmm... I may give in to the temptation soon...

-
I don't know who did a better job you or mother nature ...that thing is sweeeeet!!!
