Title: Weight of your knapped heads for hunting?
Post by: CherokeeKC on September 24, 2011, 04:05:55 pm
Im making some arrows up for hunting season in a couple weeks.  I weighed the only heads I have suitable for hunting and they run 50-150 grains.  What weight do you guys use for hunting?

I keep my hunting points between 100-125 grains .I have both field points on my practice arrows. There is a slight differance at 20 yds , not much . I don't think I'd go any lighter. You can always put a little shot in the shaft to bring the weight up.

Most of mine end up between 125 and 165. I just put the heavy ones on light arrows an an light ones on the heavy arrows. Most of my arrow come out 500 to 550, just right for my 50 to 55# selfbows. ;D

125-150.  We have a minimum width of 7/8th inches, I usually make them wider so I can resharpen.  Bill
