hi is it really a must to use a bow stringer to string a bow? ive never used one but im pretty new to all this compared to all y'all!

I wouldnt say its "a must"But i cant see why you should not use one...its easier both on you and the bow,and a stringer fits in your pocket.

I tend to string longbows with the leg-through method when the bow is too long for my stubby arms to reach with a stringer.

I use a stringer with my fiberglass bows, and the step through method with my selfbows. Fiberglass is not as forgiving as wood, so the limbs can develope twist. Wood can take the twisting, so it is not as bad.
