Title: Will these flaws in the wood hurt my bow?
Post by: WolfPupTee on September 10, 2011, 12:10:29 am
There are a few things a little off about my piece of wood that I think is a type of maple. I'm just looking for a bit of wisdom about this type of thing. I have pics.

Are these pictures of the back or belly? If it's back, they will be major problems. If belly, you might get away with it after some work.

Ah a pirate!!!! Its the back. I'm assuming its going to break. Should I start with a new piece of wood or see what happens with this one? I'm tempted to try it anyway!

When posting an image. After you copy and paste you need to type IMG in front of the http with brackets [...]  if I do type it it'll show a question mark box so I can't type it and show you. And after the jpg you put /IMG with brackets.  [/...]

Go to modify on your posts with the links and insert those codes and the images should show up.

Wow it works! Thanks. When I tried it with the insert image icon under the bold icon it just wouldn't work. SO thank you blackhawk.

Dang! What if I back it? Or I could just start over but my grandma is going to be pissed if I bring another hunk of tree in here  maybe if I sneak it in early in the morning... this one will probably break during the tillering I can feel it. My instincts told me this was a bad sign. Well back to the drawing board!

It's differently backing material. I don't back anymore so I'd start over, personally I would'nt have went that far but thats just me.

It's my first time making a bow and I really just wanted to get a feel for it. I'm definitely going to make at least three more as soon as I get some Off for these darn mosquitoes that like to eat me. Thanks for all the advice guys.
