Hey fellas, Mr. GStoneberg sent me some Texas Osage....he told me it was bent some, and short and all......but what he didn't tell me was about the BAD ATTITUDE what was packed in that chunk of wood. 4/5 trips ta the wood shed, some fightin and swearin and this is what I come up with.
I was just braggin up as how I had that bad boy whipped.....well not exactly cause it came out better than 60# @ 25" of draw. No I aint in a bad mood in the draw pics, but I do believe that the damned Texas wood is commin back to kick my butt.....it's a monster
First 4 are the regular shots and the second 4 are some close up shots. Hope ya like it, cause I was gonna lower the weight, but I'm thinkin of findin the bugger a new home >:D

second batch of pics

Nice job Rich. The tiller turned out good despite that nasty looking bend.
-
I hardly ever post over here, but dang I love that bow!
-
looks like ya got the stave bow figured out ! beautiful full draw thats a workin piece of wood
-
Thanks fellas, I am really happy with the symetry, it's the weight that's hurtin the old guy. I took pic #5 and blew it up thought ya'd get a kick out of all the white knuckles >:D

That's an awesome little bow there Rich. I'm glad you got some practice on some of that yeller wood 'cause I have a feeling you will be making another one soon ;)
-
Rich- that is a beauty! Nice tiller ;)
-
That's hurting my fingers n back just thinking about pulling a 46" bow with that poundage. Nice job with it. She oughta pack quite a punch at ambush range. Hope she finds a good home. O:)
-
Makes me wonder why I even try.

Nice Rich...awesome draw length for that for sure.

Another nice one, Rich! If-in you get a hankerin' for some more of that there yeller wood, just let me know. I send one up your way. Maybe, I'll just swing by anyways on my way up to Traverse for rifle season.
-

-
Nice work! You are the short bow king! Beautiful.
-
Wahoo Rich, that looks great! Doesn't take much osage to make a pretty strong bow. ;D I like that one a lot. George
-
sweet bow Rich, great full draw, Bub
-
There is nothing of it yet,,, 60lbs!
-
Rich, your short, little bows are amazing. I'm sure if someone were to just look at this they'd think it was a kid's bow... until they pulled that sucker back!
Glad yo were able to show that orange sliver who's boss ;D
-
good job! you amaze me with those short staves.
btw i saw a leather quiver ya made for stringman at mojam.
that was one nice quiver.
-
Dang if you don't get away with some of the shortest bows. Good work.Ron

wow MR.rich that is a sweet little stick and beat its fast...i think it would be a great bow for turkey hunting or ambush deer hunting...just send it out my way i will put it to use...LOL...how does it shoot out to 20-25yrd does it hold a punch out that far....i cant believe its not sinew backed for that short of a stick...thanks for sharing...john

Rich even the wood is mean down here in Texas.. Something about "dont mess with Texas." I guess that applies to wood too ;)
Great bow and awesome tiller!

Thank very, very much fellas. Your approval means a lot to the old guy......
Blacktail, I dont shoot that weight very well but I put 20 or so arrows through it last night. At 20 yards ya cant even see a cane arrow go....ya hear it very loud when it hits. My hardwood arrows (450 to 500 grains) are dead flat at 15 yards and very flat at 20yds.....I dont shoot past that range on animals....ever. Both types of arrows carrying 125 field points will penetrate the 3/4" plywood walls of my shed, far enough ya cant see the head. Not that I ever miss >:D
Usually I scrape these heavy bows down to my weight range (high 40's) but this little bow is real sweet (as far as I can tell) so I'm thinkin the right thing to do is leave it be and send it back to Mr. Stoneberg. He really knows Osage so maybe he'd be better off tellin ya what he thinks, I think it's a good bow.

Great bow you got there sir. My hat of to you :) i wish I could do something like that with such a short piece... really tempting i may just try. by the way what is the width?
-
Beautiful, simple, short, effective. You do make nice short bows.

Legionnaire, The mid portion of the bow averages 1-3/8" wide...there are some knot sweeps and the like but I believe that measurement to be an honest average. The back, of course, is low crowned.....but I also made the belly low crowned so I have not put the calipers on her yet but can do if it would help ya any.

Sir you make some slick little bows.... that one turned out to be a speedster for you :)
I also admire your ability to shoot 60#s !!@!!! Great job!!
-

Coaster, dont admire too much bud....that steel wrist plate and all them screws DO NOT like that weight, not to mention my old age that's how come I said I dont shoot this bow very well. 45/50 is my comfort zone and that's what most of my bows are ::)
George, think about it this way.....next time one of yer buds is talkin about the little kids toy, hand that to him with a 25/26 arra .....sit back with a good bourbon and cigar......watch the show, and repeat as necessary to laugh yer butt off, eh?
Thanks very much to all you fellas,
