I cant go no matter how badly I want to. I have a few nieces and nephews being confirmed that weekend and I can miss that for ANYTHING. Last year my oldest was confirmed and that kept me back. Next year my youngest gets confirmed. Its a big to-do in my family and a milestone for the younger ones. Next up, drivers license.

What the heck was Tom drinking in that big jar Pappy? Looks dangerous to me!

Still a month away and I am getting so excited, getting calls from all over so I think it will be a good one,a few of the regulars aren't going to be able to make it but others are coming in to help try and fill their shoes [some, big to fill]  :) :) Marie said pictures of the preparing so I thought I would put some of of what you can expect a lot of,food/Napping/Picking/pretty country/views and might even get in a little shooting. ;) ;D ;D

Actually I'm planning on being there on sunday this year. I haven't herd from Mike El D but once since last year I really hate that that some of the other guys can't make it but thats life I guess. Oh well I guess we'll have to party extra hard to make up the slack. Myself Bro Dan Bubba Bear and maybe EDDIE will have a throwdown down in camp this year. Ron

I heard from Steve(Hillbilly) and he said he, Tina and Cody will not be attending the Classic this year. Too much other stuff going on. I sent El D a PM a few months ago and he said he was hoping to but wasn't sure at the time.
Wade(n2everything) and I should be there by noon or shortly after on Thursday. I can hardly wait!!!  Have a cold one waiting for us!  ;)
If someone can give me an idea of what might be needed or would go along with whatever they are cooking I'll  bring some along with me.

Cracker, We'll be coming in early Thursday morning. I'm supposed to have a camp spot next to Chris Collingsworth, up in the good neighborhood. ;D And just a warning,BRING TICK SPRAY. I have eight bites on one hand 4 on the other, 1 on the buttock, 3 on one leg and 2 on the other, and 1 on the waist band.  :'(  But then most of you won't be laying and crawling in the leaves like I was. :)

I'm really looking forward to the Classic this year.  Last year was my first trip.  I spent so much time turning my head around to see what else there was to see, that I had to visit my chiropractor when I got home. haha

I mowed my little 3D course today.  Serious practice begins tomorrow. :)

Ticks, grr I had 6 or 8 bites last year. and NO I wasn't rolling in the leaves with Eddie.  haha  Apparently, I'm alergic to tick spit.  They swelled up the size of banty hen eggs.  So, this year I will be easy to recognize.  I'll be the guy who smells of DETE

HEy all,
I will be at the Classic on Friday.  I will have Bow of the Month hats for those who haven't received theirs and will be attending (please P.M. me hint hint James Parker)
I will also have 20th Anniversary hats.  I have a limited amount here, but the PA team coming in town can bring more.  So if you want to "reserve" the anniversary hats ($20 but you don't' have to pay shipping because we hand it to you) P.M. me that you want one.  I want to make sure we have enough to save you all the shipping costs.
We can't wait!!!! to get there.   ;D

Going to try for next year. Been so busy with the business and stuff I just have not had time to get away. Plus, the economy sucks!  :(

Hmm! I bet the guys need some of my stinky soaps! The never did find out that the Lemongrass soap kept the ticks and mosquitos off of me! Never did get bitten! Not once!!!

I think everybody who could is too busy shooting and knapping to answer you.  I'm almost positive Pappy won't be doing anything on the computer until this is over.  I'd go if I were you.

Home from the Classic . Had to leave early because I was afraid my mosickle would be stuck at the bottom of the drive since it was starting to storm about 6:30 this morning.Rained as hard as I have seen it. Wind blowing hard, giant bolts of lightening. Scarey. Had part of 24 closed down. rode bout 150 miles in it almost to Louisville before it cleared up.

Anyhow a great time. Thanks Pappy it was good to see you again. Appreciate the hospitality. PatB it was an honor finally meeting you. Sorry it was such a short visit. It was great meeting Michal Moore, Monroe Luther and Marie Luther aka Calendargirl from PA magazine. Been writing for them for 12 years, 29 articles and it's the first time I ever met anyone from the magazine. Great folks. Was good to see Gary DAvis working his butt off helping people as usual and re- meeting Steve Gardiner aka Badger who I met at Mojam in 08 and who I was lucky to co-author The Traditional Bowyers Bible 4 with. Also a pleasure to meet String Stretcher, Mullet, and a wonderfully talented bow maker and musician named Will. And there was a real nice fellow frm sw Indiana, Kevin or Keith, sorry cant remember that showed me a dandy of a bow called Bullet (see i remember the important stuff lol) that he had made that had had a bullet lodged in the wood when he split it out...Cool stuff. Thanks for sharing.

Anyhow wish I could have spent another day but it was not to be. Maybe next year.Awesome event ya got going on down there in the Tennessee hills.

Wood monkey I'm almost positive there is no charge if you don't shoot. Plenty of vendors there to visit and you can watch some bowmaking and flint knapping.

I made it home just a little while ago, tired but what a great four days. It was good to see old friends and make new ones, sit up late at night around the fire pit and reminiscing the Classics of years past and just being with some of the finest folks on earth.  The wait for the Classic seems endless each year but our time together goes by so quickly.  :(  We now all have the memories of the 15 Tennessee Classic to carry us to the 16th.
Mickey it was great to finally meet you. I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation and appreciate the stone knife you gifted me. It will be a cherished part of my collection.
Steve Gardner(Badger) is a bow building machine!  8)   Every time I turned around Steve was either starting with a new stave or finishing up one that seemed like he just started. Steve, it was a pleasure to meet you in person and I can only hope that this will not be your last Classic.
There were so many folks that I met this past weekedd that I dare not try to name them all but it was a pleasure to meet you all. Our Family of the Bow is getting bigger and better with each of you.
Pappy, Miss Joanie and the whole Twin Oaks gang I can't thank you guys enough. When we turned into the Twin Oaks driveway on Thursday afternoon it was like coming home. You guys sure know how to make a body feel welcomed and at home. Thank you all for a wonderful weekend and for opening your hearts to us.
I sure there will be lots of pics and stories in the coming days so I will cut this short.

If you had a great time AND you are on Facebook... stop by the Twin Oaks page and hit "like"

Primitive Archer has a page, too.  We would love it if you hit like for us too.  But this event was hosted by Twin Oaks and they always go above and beyond!!! this may have been the best year ever!!

Thanks Pappy and the rest of the gang that helped with the Classic.  I had the time of my life down there.  This year I met so many wonderful people, many of them members on here.  I have never felt so welcomed and at home.  The guys in the bow shop were amazing.  I watched Gary, Matt, Steve, and Clay help so many beginners with their first bows.  They sure helped spread the addiction to a new crowd.  I watched Blackhawk take a piece of fire wood and turn it into a screaming Molly.  Hickory Bill made one fine osage bow as well.  I really wanted to hit the knapping pit, but I just couldn't get myself to leave the bow shop.  Next year I'll bring a few more staves to work on.

Is anyone starting a picture thread?  I have a few good ones I would like to post.

Clint, you might as well get a Classic pics thread going. I'll bet it won't take long to fill up.
Thanks for the staves. I sure would like to incorperate the hole in the osage in a bow but I will have to study that option with the others. The hackberry will be a new experience for me so I'm looking forward to working with it.

There is only one bad thing about the Classic besides it not happening once a month and that is there are so many people I wanted to to meet and see their bows first hand that just didn't happen.  Hopefully, next year I can add a couple more days to the trip.  My wife is the owner/director of a Montessori school.  She alread said that she's going to schedule a couple personal developement days to coincide with the Classic for the school's 2012-13 calendar.  Gotta love that women.  :)
