Post by: luke the drifter on August 04, 2011, 09:39:20 pm
i am sure that this has come in this community.  will 68 and 1/2 inches still be classified as longbow in the traditional sense? or does this really matter?

I'd call that a long bow...and a longbow!  ;)

Length is a design consideration, not a style classification.

longbow is a relative term.

A long bow to a kid could be 48".

An English Longbow (ELB) should be about the height of the archer plus maybe upto a few inches more (or a bit more than that for heavy warbows).
'Longbow' has a different meaning in the US I believe.
