OK here's the scoop. I'm heading out to get married on Thursday and I won;t be back until 7/9 or so. And because I am 95% done on this bow I have to post it just to tease you a little.
I am pretty hooked on cherry bark for backing, but since I have never seen this on yew, I figured I would post some pics and let everyone know what it looks like. I was shocked @ how well the edges cleaned up, it's almost seamless. That's why I'm posting a lot of these pics.
I'll post the final bow in mid July.
For those of you who know what happened to my last yew bow I built, it broke when Ken (age 74) shot it for the 50th time or so. This is his replacement and was the last stave I owned. I'm hoping the backing, and better tillering will do the trick!
Enjoy and I welcome all the feedback.
Thanks, Joe
Ps. Final finish, handle, string and of course, full draw pics will have to wait until mid July. :(

Thanks Everyone. If anyone wants some bark, just send me an address and I'll ship you enough for a bow. I probably have enough for 3-4 bows right now that's ready for application so...1st come, 1st served! Joe

OK I have it all accounted for already. When I get back, I'll go hunting for more and make sure I harvest enough for 12 bows or so. Cheers!

Hey Joe - as usual, nicely done! I enjoyed seeing your techniques and shooting your bows a couple weeks back. I'm moved back to WA now. Got a motherload of vine maple around here so we'll be in touch as I get to working on it. Let me know about the Yew wood when you get some time. Congrats on your wedding! Stay in touch.
