So obsidian is much easier to flake. Not the best of em all but it might fly.

Here's my second point for the day. All in all 2/2 hitting 100% for the day.

Goose, you are doing very well for just 2 weeks into it! (Did the super glue work for ya) ;)
-
Turns out the gel works much better than the liquid in stopping bleeders like me.
-
You are only at it for two weeks and making points! Good for you man keep it up. Get those on an arrow and hit something.
-
Man I must have been a slow learner. Some of these guys are making good points in just a few weeks. It took me quite a bit longer. Guess its all the good advice a person can get from this page.

Obsidian is easier than.......? Please say unheated chert! I have bunch of unheated chert that is kickin my butt! :o maybe if I heat treat it. The first piece I made rubble. Second piece I got close to a knife blade then smacked it wrong and it broke in two. Maybe I should go back to points. Yours look really good!

Those are lookin great! Keep on knappin :).

Thanks for the kudos. Obsidian works much like glass. Timo did say that it's the sharpest material out there. I would agree when I came back in I had a sliver stuck in my forearm that I had no clue was stuck in about 1/8". Had my wife not noticed it I might have bled on the couch.

I have a love/hate relationship with obsidion, it works easy, makes great points, really sharp...but I really hate how a sliver in your finger turns invisible and you have to feel for it with the tip of a knife to get it out. Bill

I'd rather knap a good chert. For me its easier to build pressuer on flakes. Obsidian releases to soon & it cuts me faster than other materials. But it does make very nice points.
