A buddy of mine found this....would this have been ceremonial?  It was found in western kentucky.  Any information would be greatly appreciated!

How thick is it?  Whatever it is, it's killer.  Maybe a hoe?

I've found one preform here in tx. like that one. Edge looks finished. Very nice  & a great study piece for flake pattern.

I agree - very large preform. I have found a couple down here but not as finely tuned. Nice find!

I agree with everybody else.I was with a buddy when he found six like that made out of transluscent coral.

Preforms were also used as tools, hoes, shovels, axes and scrapers just as they were brought back.  That has a lot of pressure flaking around the edge, I would guess a high prestige item, basically, it was part of the ruling elites' treasure trove.  Bill
