Title: burlington pink

OK I am posting this for a number of reasons.  First someone ask me to post a picture of the new batch.  Second I was real happy with the quality and consistency of the flake and third I want to show some of the new people the platform and the series of thinning flakes that can result from a good platform and good ridges. I got a little lucky but it also good flint.

Yes it is great. This material was heat treated for 4 days.  It sounds like glass and if you take a flake and drop it a half of and inch from the surface it will vibrate like crazy because of how unified the material became in the heating process.  Notice there are no colasped platforms and no abrading.  Leapingbare gave me the cook times.

Yes I am in about two feet and down about 3 to 4 so the cracks are dropping out. I also biface the rock before transporting it out of the quarry so that one side is crack free.  I am getting good at guessing what the crack is going to do so I work out trouble areas.  I like some of the impurities in the stone it gives it some unexpected color.  I found some flint that has very small fossils and is clear white. I will post a picture in an hour.  I don't find much of that stuff but it is really cool.  I am almost afraid to make a point out of it.

Here are a couple other flint types that I find but in small quantities.  All of these can be found within 20 yards of each other. These three can be knapped with out heat treating them.

Yes I agree... the silica value in that last pic is top shelf. It's nice to have a place where you can dig your own. Guard it well.

The outside is a lot like it but the flint on the inside is kinda different
