Post by: wildman on June 24, 2011, 07:07:47 pm
This bow is of hickory kiln dried 62" ntn 40ish@ 28 bends through the handle 1 1/2 on the limbs the bottom of the scallops are about 1/8'' less . How deep can I safely take the scallops?

Wildman,
I dont believe ya want to go any more that 1/4" to the bottom of the scallops or you will start loosing weight in a hurry. Also you may want to put a "low-crown" at least on the back so the scallop points cant collect too much stress.
One other thing is if ya go 1/4" deep on the scallops I would refrain from doing the grip scallop untill (after) the rest are done and you can check the circle tiller.....you dont want the bend to migrate towards the center of the stick.
