I guess thats what I did. I wasn't while drawing a bow, but pulling it while tillering it on the tree. I weight 140 and I was hanging feet off the ground on the string trying to pull the bow. It's gonna be a heavy warbow (not for me) so I gotta tiller it while it's pretty heavy. I got hit real hard some years ago and either broke/popped/bruised a rib back then, so I think it's acting up again or something, as I have been straining pretty bad trying to get this bow tillered and close to braceable/get it braced. It just started hurtin today while pulling it. It's like when I pull it down it feels like my rib is gonna pop out of my chest. It's kinda scary. But it does kinda help out with the tillering process. I can only pull it so far, you see, so I am forced to get it perfect tiller early on, even more than you normally should. I'm kinda forced to nit pick at it cause I can't pull that far. And every little tiller fix or tweek removes a bit of weight so I can pull it just little farther without ripping the ribs out of my chest! ;D It's like a very painful tiller aid.

I can tell you one thing from experience. I separated the cartilage in my ribs once and it is a slow, painfull recovery time. Almost a year and the Doc's can't do a thing. If you are having that much trouble with your pulley, try double blocking it, using two pulley's. It will cut your weight in half.

Shoot I don't even have a pulley to begin with, would like to get one sometime when I got a better tiller set up...

oooh,, that is scarey. :P

Sorry to hear of your injury.
I use a system of pulleys that consists of two cheap double pulleys so am only ever holding 25% of the bows weight, very simple very cheap.

If you put overlays on your bows put a stringing groove in your top overlay. You can string a very heavy bow easily with a piece of parachute cord if you have a stringing groove. This is the finished nock version, I leave them larger and pretty rough until I get the bow almost finished.

Man sorry to hear that, I have issues with a couple ribs popping out of place a couple times a year, the chiropractor got a little spendy so I taught my wife to pop it back in (not advised unless you know what your doing) 140# thats a heavy one ;D
