Pecked these two out yesterday evening. It was cool out and a slight drizzle. Every time the thunder would rumble, a couple of gobblers would let loose over in front of the house. Very relaxing :)
-
Those are some great looking points. I hope someday I can make some that good. Think i might neeed some better rock first though.
-
Good rock makes good points...bad rock makes good knappers ;)
-
I really like that last one, Shannon, something different. ;)
-
Me to Mullet. What is that one called Shannon ? Love the color scheme and micro serrations.
-
If the notches were not so narrow it would be a Kirk corner notched. I suppose I could have opened them up a little, but that thing is barely thicker than a cracker and I just didn't see the need.
You'd be proud of me Eddie. I also made a Dalton and a Dove tail over the weekend too. No pictures of those though. I sold them both as soon as I finished them 8)

WOW. Mighty fine job!

Those are soooo nice. I was breaking rock at that time too, but the result was quite different. Perhaps the absence of turkeys... ??? My driveway has more gravel now. :)
Your points are wonderful.

There ya go Shannon - nice as usual. Guess it beats popping the heads off of turtles with a pistol at a hundred yards huh ;D. Ya know. Just looked at my schedule and I'm headed to TN next. My weld supply is in Clarksville, hmm - doubt they'll see me on the jobsite very often ::).
-
WOW!!!!!!!! nice work those are really cool. I really like the corner noching amazing.
-
Wow! Those are beautiful! That second one is awesome. I'm Green with envy over your rock and knapping skill. :o
-
Paul, they were'nt a hundred yards out...just about 25 or 30. It was awful fun >:D
I pick up a little of this rock at knap-ins when it's available. Real hard to get any with more than one color in it and then even harder to keep it in the point. Bob's right, it's a bear to work cause it's usually full of layers and cracks. Way too expensive to practice on. I wish I had some of the pieces I destroyed back when I started :'(
Glad ya'll like 'em

I love the stone.
-
Great looking points. Would really like to get that good and maybe someday? I try and make a point or two to deer hunt with here in Michigan and those would certainly do the trick.. Thanls for posting.
You knappers that are really good and post photos are a real inspiration for new knappers like me. Thanks
-
:o ::) O:) ;) :D :) thats the only things i can say.
-
NICE!!! ;D ;D ;D
-
Excellent as usual. Is that tough material to work?
-
Excellent as usual. Is that tough material to work?
It can range from near impossible to like obsidian all within one piece. On average it's "challenging" 8) Most knappers either love it or hate it.

I would seriously save it as in my opinion for folks just starting out its too perty of stone to make gravel! I wasted the best Ive seen my first time ...I am still upset years later over that! HI Shannon!

You're right Russ! I wish I had half the rock I destroyed when I started. I ruined some Sonora flint that was unbelievable!
