Ive been trying for a couple of weeks to make a point out of our only local rock Kanawha Black, it is some tough stuff. But after about a hundred pounds of gravel and several blisters i fanally got one made. I'm still learning so any comments or criticisms welcome.

No wonder you had such a hard time it looks like a piece of cast iron. I thought Cowboy was the only one who used cast iron.Ron

Look's good to me. Can you believe how hungry the first person was to beat on that stuff?
-
Yea Mullet, after beating on this stuff I have a new found respect for the Native Americans that lived in our area. You can find points made of this all over around here every thing from large Clovis points to small arrowheads.
-
Hey Greg, I have been in Vermont a few days and just got back. After beating what I had into gravel, I know what a challenge you are dealing with. That point looks great to me, just don't get frustrated with that rock, it is a beast.

I started off beating unheated rough rock and when I started using heat treated smooth stone with the skill I had it was like going from dial up to highspeed cable. If you have the skill to knock out a nice point from that rock, you will make even better points from good material. Looks like your hooked now no turning back at (with) this point.

Looks good I happen to like tough rock...send me some eh?..... ;)
