Title: straightening a limb..
Post by: aero86 on May 17, 2011, 01:05:04 am
heres what im doing.  ive got a few pieces of bamboo that i want to practice with, making a composite style bow.  i glued them to a handle section, before checking for straightness.  so, luckily i just used titebond and i could steam them apart.  but, one of the limbs its slightly bent.  is there a way for me to bend the section straight, now that i have the pieces apart again?  at this point they are already thinned down, at the final thickness.

The core or the Boo ? If it's the core you can do it with dry heat. :) Not sure on the boo.

You can straighten boo with dry heat in a similar manner to the way you would straighten wood, I usually do this before fully thinning thinning it, as you have thinned it to backing thickness be careful about deeply scorching it.
