Well.......new to this site, but not new to archery. Just jumped over here from TG on an invite from a friend of mine you all probably know already. I'm a sponsor over there on TG and have heard guys mention PA quite a few times, but never checked it out. You all have quite a large number of members here I see. I also see quite a few familiar user names here and mine is also the same here as over on TG, so there's less confusion about who I am.
Hope to enjoy everybody's company and look forward to slinging a few arras and some BS with y'all around the campfire.
I'll toss in a handful of yellar shavins every now and then to keep the flames going. ;)

Lots of familiar names around here for certain Chris. The best part is we dont have to worry about Roy boy nudging in!...............Shhhhhh its a secret, he doesnt need to know PA exists.
-
Semo,
I just jumped on board here myself...heard about PA from the boys at Tenn. Classic.
They were right...there is a lot of great info and great guys and gals on here. I want to learn all I can and I think I've found the spot to do it.
Enjoy!

Welcome Chris. I signed you in earlier this evening. ;) You'll like it here at PA. 8)
-
Glad to see you guys here. I usually hang out on the History Channel on Tradgang. I'm kinda the resident old glass bow guy on this site. I'll swap wood for old Bear glass. ;)
-
Thanks guys, glad to be here. I'll probably just jump right in with questions and stuff after I find my way around the new place. Pearl got me interested in hackberry and I just got some on the ground yesterday, and I have no idea about anything that has to do with white woods or hackberry. So I'll be looking for some advice later on.

Howdy Chris, welcome to PA, a great cyber destination for primitive archery to be sure.
-
Welcome ! ' Frank

Welcome chris ;D
-
Thanks Fellars!
I'm starting to find my way around here a little bit.
-
Welcome! Now, make sure you raise your hand and ask all of your questions in one post. That way we can cut and paste the answers for the next new guy. OK?
-
Sheesh, took ya long enough Chris ;D
Welcome and looking forward to seeing ya hanging on around here.

Hey!! How did you find my 4th grade graduation picture?? ;D
LOL......most of my questions will be about woods other than Osage because that's about the only one I've worked with to any great extent. I did make a nice BBO last go around and the boo was a new experience, but not really the monster that everybody made it out to be. Lots of splinters but other than that not too bad.
Messin with Hackberry now and it's even more confusing to work with than the bamboo was.........little tiny rings. I better get some old fart's glasses cause I think I may need them? LOL
It will be nice to try a different wood though, kinda gettin burt out on Osage even though it's one of the best bow woods out there. I'm taking my bow building in a whole new direction and want to expand my horizons so to speak.
Lee- I see where you been hanging out now, you been cheating on me so I had to come and track you and Pearlie Boy down!! LOL
Yall been sneaking out and talking about me behind my back on another trad website ain't ya!! :D
-
I feel so dirty...........
-
now not sure about nothing
but i know there was a guy in the knapping pit at the clasic this year
said he hung out on trad gang
i think we were calling him the "gentle knapper" ;D :D
just trying to put a name to a face here, thats all ;)
-
Hey SEMO, welcome to our controlled chaos.
I know what you mean about tiny rings in hackberry. I tried chasing a single micro-ring on one for about 5 hours and gave up. Just worry about the full annual rings and you will do fine!
-
Semo, naw, no cheating...just can't get my fill of this stuff and PA seems to stick to the primitive stuff a bit more than the folk's over at the Bowyer's Bench (still too many glass dudes there ;D)
-
We try. ;D
-
Just so there's no confusion this is what I really look like.
First trad kill coyote last October with my Bear Grizzly recurve, 510gr. cedar woodie and a 125gr. Magnus Snuffer broadhead. Sliced through both shoulders like he wasn't even there.

Thanks fellas. Yes that was a young male yote, we got lots of them around here and I see more coyotes than I do deer or turkey so I guess you just have to make the best of a bad situation? They do make for fine target practice though, and a test of your abilities to blend in, stay quiet, don't move, and try not to stink too bad. LOL ;D

try not to stink too bad. LOL ;D
This guy ain't gonna last long around here.
