Just finished tillering and rough sanding this bow. Its 64" ntn, 48# @ 28", 1 1/2" at the fades and tapers to 3/8" tips from mid limb. it weighs in (with a string) at 14 oz. The wood came from an enormous shagbark a friend cut down 10 years ago. The wood had been in a bone dry barn the whole time. I have shot it roughly a 100 times, so far so good. Its incredibly quick for a lighter draw bow.

Sorry about the poopy pics. This was my first pic post and I wasnt sure what size to use. Lesson learned! Thanks for the kind words all. I will post some finished pics when its done, about 3-4 days. I plan on a jute wrap handle and about 16-18 coats of Tru Oil. The wood is so beautiful as is, just a good clear coat will look incredible.

Lane, the thickest part is around 1/2" at the handle and most of the length, then it tapers to just under 3/8" at the width taper. I was hoping for 52-53#'s but one limb was giving me fits during tillering so It went a touch under target. Bamboo shafts are in order for her!
Pat, simple seems to be the new "norm" for me the last few bows. I fell in love with the feel of the handle give way at full draw, Im just loving it right now.
Thanks again for the kind words everybody!

Wow, what a superb tiller job. Well done, that is the kind of smooth bend I aspire to.

14 oz.--nice job. Wish I could get my bows to tiller that good!
-
What a pretty tiller :o. I dig it!
48 pounds may be light to you, but its enough to get the job done on most anything you could hunt around here.

Beautiful tiller!

I've said it before I'll say it again, simple bows like this will prove whether you can tiller or not. There is no character to hide behind, no flash or frills, just limbs! You either get it right or it looks all wrong.
Not surprised to hear you say a limb gave you fits, even the slightest hinge or flat spot would show up like a glaring mistake on a simple design like this. You nailed it, though. You nailed it down tight!

that looks like a well made bow to me.....

Tiller looks right on. Good job, looking forward to the finished pics.

All done! I put 9-10 coats of Tru Oil on her a simple stitched grip. I gave it to my step son, he was ready for a "man's bbow" and this little lady fit the bill perfectly. The dark color wood is el' natural hickory heartwood. Thanks for peeking!
