Title: kids bow (Not for BOM)
Post by: DEllis on April 18, 2011, 03:56:43 pm
Made this from a birch bow that I built while I was trying to figgure out the best design for birch. It fretted slightly so I chunked it in the failure pile. I decided to make it into a kids bow for a friends sons..........he shoots a bowtech something or other but at least his kids'll shoot a real bow  >:D ;D
White birch 60" long, about 1 inch wide. draws 18#@20 inches but can be drawn 24" so they can grow into it. Shown at 22" approx and also my youngest pulling it back to about 13".

Hey, the little tyker has better form than his Daddy!!!  Hawhaw!

That's the best way to save a bow from the PA Members Only Corner of Shame, now to be referred to as "PAMOCS".  I've handed off a few to kids this way and some of the others ended up in movies where the actors couldn't pull a real bow and still act their parts.

That should easily handle the 24 inch draw as the kid grows up.  Nice work.

Nice work, I know that tillering a kids bow is sometimes harder than doing a 50 pounder... so little wood to work with and so twitchy with hand placement.
Good to see the youngsters having a go.
