As you can see the incline is rather steep.. It was a booger getting those logs up the creek bed by myself, but I got it done.. Gonna split and see how the staves look...
-
Much work! 8) Those trees that grow on them hill sides will often have the upper side that will be reaction wood.Meaning it will want to go a bit crazy on you. If you can tame it, you will have a great bow.
-
It was Timo.. I'm hoping George will coach me in making bows ;D
-
Hate to break it to you after you busted a hump pulling that wood uphill, but all good bow wood is uphill from the truck! >:D

Oh man I can't do that no more, it's gonna hurt your back latter on. It was killin mine in the here and now. I carry a back pack with my hatchet, hammer, and stakes to just split it out where ever it lays and then carry the staves one by one.

JW... Up hilll from the mini van for me, but i get it... ::)
Toomanyknots i thought about that, but I had to get home pronto O:)

Make sure you seal the ends. They look good.
-
Thanks osage outlaw.. I sealed em up with wood glue.
-
that's hard work, man. been there done that. sometimes the good wood is down the damn hill no matter where you park!
-
Nice stuff. Now for the long wait till it seasons..........that's the hardest part I think, waiting ;D

Absolutely Cipriano, it would be my pleasure. I have a couple more seasoned staves you can play with while you're waiting for your wood to season.

Ya see?!?!?! That is why people keep getting addicted to this madness! Everyone that is already addicted and embarrassed about their lack of moral character tries to pull everyone down to their level. Didja see the way gstoneberg offered to hook the poor guy up with a freebie? Run Mr. Rivera, run!
Aw what the heck, it's probably too late already, you are already trying to get your kid hooked on yeller wood from what I seen in the pics!
*grin*

You sure did earn each and every one of those staves. Have fun. Jawge

I was not there to help you haul out the booty, er, wood so the least I can do is help season it. Send me some of the straighter pieces and I will holler when it is ready. Maybe ;D

Gracias Darcy. It's better wood than I thought it would be.
JW you are right!!! It's contagious and not easily cured. My boy absolutely loves doing this things together. I sure intend to Jawge ::) Thank you George. This summer after summer school I have lots of time. Lane that is truly generous of you ;D
