Title: Moose Antler Thumb Ring
Post by: bushman on March 19, 2011, 11:32:49 pm
Hey,
Hows everyone doin? Haven’t been on here for a long time. During last fall hunting season I found a moose antler, it’s a smaller paddle, 5 points, a good 2.5 inches across the base and would fit in about a foot and a half square. Sorry no pictures of it, I really need a digital camera. I want to make a shaft straighter, a few pressure flakers, a billet from the base and a thumb ring out of it. I need some advise on how to make a thumb ring though. I have only seen a few pictures of them so I’m not too sure of how to go about makin one. I didn’t want to start to cut the antler until I know how to make the thumb ring. I’m presuming that you make the ring out of the base of a tine that is larger then your thumb, right? Any pictures or advise of how to make the ring would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
