Hey guys,
i've got SO much eucalyptus here in jo'burg and i know that people have made successful bows from it before but i was wondering if it would be fees-able to make a selfbow out of it? we call it the eucalyptus bluegum in jo'burg so i'm guessing its that or grandis, i put a sample in water and it looked 0.75-0.80 density, any advice?

Sion, Eucalyptus is not common here in the US and I have heard that there are hundres of varietyes around the world. Some are good for selfbows from what I understand but I have no personal experience with it as bow wood. Give it a try and let us know how it works. The s.g numbers look like it should make good bows.

Absolutely give it a shot. You never know what woods can work out there...
