My neighbor has a hackberry in his front yard and this year the bark got pretty shaggy, any one know why? Just wondering cause if he takes it out, I get it, Bub

I've seen hackberry with corky warts all over it but not shaggy bark.

Not like any hackberry tree we have here in Nebraska or in Kansas where I cut wood.

Man if that used to be a hackberry theres something really wrong with it.

I agree the knots, the bark here in WV's tight to the tree. It looks like it's differntly something wrong with it to me..

Man if that is hackberry it must have some trouble. Doesn't look like any I have seen before.

Is that tree alive? Can you get a pic of the crown?

Don't look like any Hackberry I have seen dead or alive. :) Wrong color wrong bark,about everything about it is wrong. ;) ;D

Nope not a hackberry....looks like a big chinese elm (lacebark elm) Ulnus parvifolia. But I may be wrong.

agree with others. dont look like hackberry.

I dont think thats hackberry...maybe some type of birch?

Doesnt look like the hackberry I cut here in Texas. But that is one messed up tree.
