Very nice....are Nawmans the style commonly seen in Florida coral?
-
Justin....It is a Deep south style point and could have been made from coral or costel plain chert or what ever kind of good material they could fine...Come on down to the knapp in and we will try to make one...Mullet would know better then me......Thanks Curt

Most Newnan's have the tangs straight out from the base, like Marions. Hillsboro's dip down most of the time. Marion bases are rounded and Newnans are flat like Curt's.Hillsboro base's come down to a short point. They are so valuable when you find one because most of the time the delicate thin bases are missing. But, there are "hybrids of all three styles". And they were made from the crappiest rock to the best, high grade, heat treated coral to be found here. And everyone, paper thin, all percussion flaked except the edge.

HILLSBORO is what I'm thinking of!

You know what, something about this didnt sound right and I finally (yes Im slow like that) figured out why.....slang in the subject line about the point style....duh lol. Was wondering why it looked familiar but hadnt heard of it.....sorry I couldnt ignore that light bulb that just came on in my head lol
