Hickory Backed Yellowheart with Ipe powerlam, handle riser and tip overlay accents. 45# @ 28". Really wish I could have moved the bend a little further out on the limbs but I didn't want to lose any more weight. Besides it shoots great like it is and I am satisfied with it so far. It is a right handed bow too making it for a friend. I made this one with a little string follow, around an inch or so. I feel this makes it easier to string/shoot and makes for a more stable bow for beginners. Whaddaya think? Thanks for looking! :) :)

Oh yeah and this is the first time I used an overlay over the static handle area. It really rounds out the handle and makes it more comfortable to hold and shoot. Thanks again for looking~! ;)
-
Sweet looking bow! What are the diminsions? What's your form look like?
-
nice one. the handle area is nicely done, seems to blend well. color combo is cool there as well as the tips. like the southpaw draw on a righty bow. :D
-
Nice and clean Josh! Great looking tiller. Nice hairs cut also. ;)
-
Looks good! Any problems with the yellowheart glue up?
-
thanks criveraville the bow is 66" NtN and around 1 3/8ths inches wide at the fades. My form consists of a flat board with blocks on the ends. Usually I will put the tips on the blocks back of bow up and clamp the handle area down in the middle and run C clamps and spring clamps down both limbs. That's how I add reflex during glue up. :)
Thanks Eric! I was hoping no one would notice that! :)
Thanks Timo! Only choice I have with the haircut, anything else looks bad because of my nonexisting hairline. :D
Thanks eagleone! never have had a problem with yellowheart glue ups. They always stick together for me.

I like yellowheart. Makes a fast durable, not to mention sharp looking, bow. Yours looks nicer than mine.
-
Good to know- a local wood dealer has a bunch of yellowheart and have been contemplating trying it out
-
Dang that's a fine looking bow, and that handle is simply eye candy!
-
Nice bow Josh, I really like the tiller, and it's purty to boot.
-
Very, very nice...man, some of you folk's just CRANK out the bows! :o
I guess I could disconnect our DISH and burn my couch, might increase my productivity a bit more...
-
sure is pretty Josh, nice lookin bow all around, especially laminations at the handle-the ones with srting follow are sometimes the favorites -Hammertime
-
Nice bow. I personally like a bit of string follow......seems to make a bow more forgiving.
Darcy :)
-
Very striking bow, Josh! Beautifully finished :)
-

well well , nice to see the Pro's back at it again . nice bow ! great colors .and the tiller is perfect
-
Great looking bow Josh!! Keep up the fine work.
-
Thanks everyone! I really like working with the yellowheart, it is easy as heck to carve on, really pretty and seems to be great in compression. If any of you have never tried it I highly suggest it as a bow wood. :)
-
That is one fine looking weapon there Josh! Love the looks of that wood combination..
-
I also found Yellowheart to be dense and great in compression. I glued in just a little reflex, hoping that it would end up with just a little string follow. But it kept almost all the reflex, even after shooting! Despite my best efforts to 'induce' some set during tiillering.
-
thanks Cowboy and NTprof!
I have found the compression qualities to vary from board to board though. Seems the yellow-er it is the better it is in compression, maybe it is more dense? Either way it is a great bow wood and you should expect to see many more of these yellowheart bows from me. (I got a pretty good bit left LOL. ;D )

That's a fine looking bow Josh. Gonna have to try some yellowheart sometime. maybe with some purpleheart :)
Glad to see you hammering them out again
-
Thanks Cameroo! I have used purple heart and yellow heart together with great success I made a trilam R/D bow out of them backed with bamboo that is still my fastest shooter. Use the Purple heart as your core and make it really THIN. :) It works great and is very pretty together too.
