Hello all-just wondering what you think of this design-thought it would ease tension off the backs of smaller diameter bows-I think this turned out ok giving this bow a smooth, stackless draw with plenty of speed.almost a penobscot. The bottom bow is elm the top is black walnut with a snake skin backing(not sure what kind though)45# @ 26" of pull. The elm is just over 1" wide 64" long the walnut is 32".sure shoots nice and I'm pretty happy how it turned out, very little set after shooting in the finish is tung oil. Thanks for the inspiration-Hammertime.

last ones and thanks
-
just fun to try different stuff once and awhile
-
So the back bow is tied to the main bow at the handle and tips but not strung like a typical Penobscot bow? Interesting. Kind of like an external power lam! ;D Pretty cool! 8)

Looks good, It's always cool when an experiment works!
-
Thanks Rich,Pat and Dave, yeah Pat it's like a lazy mans powerlamb ;D just left over material for this experiment-Hammertime
-
Looks like B.O.M. material to me.
-
Unique bow Hammertime, definitely a conversation piece.
-
Thats cool!!!!!!!! how would just the long bow shoot with out the midget on it's back??? wonder if you could have crono'd them?? you could prove a whole bunch!! I love it thanks JEFFW

Nice work.

Thanks much all-Jeff- just the narrow bow,by itself would probably take more set, thats my theory at least, the elm is heat treated though-Hammertime
-
Well how about that? I think that is very cool. Nice idea and follow through on the design. Might also be a great way to salvage any bows that turn out too light in draw weight after tillering.......not that it's ever happened to me....I mean...um.... ::)
-
Thanks know what you mean about the "to light part'-but try this sometime-Hammertime
-

One for the to do list, definitely ;)
-
Very neat idea.... looks like it works well? :)
-
Thanks Hatch and 1776J...I no engineer and I'm sure this has been done before...it just made sense to me and the walnut was from an earlier failure the elm just a left over piece from slicing up staves.-Hammertime

That is one hell-of-a cool bow. the penobscot design is what got me interested in bow making. Well Done!

Thanks much Ron the penobscot is an interesting design...Hammertime

That's a cool bow!
Isn't it noisy with the two slads so close to each other?
-
Cool looking bow,how dose it shoot ?Tiller looks good.
Pappy
-
Thanks medicenewheel... as far as the noise-not really I have leather glued on in between the two bows @ the tips and @ the handle so theres little friction..thanks for asking its not really any noiser than your average self bow-Hammertime
-
Thanks Pappy I really like it so far good out to 15+yds if I keep my closed :o,Just kidding I was surprised at how good It shoots-Hammertime
