here's three more rhyolite pointsthat I made today, the red one was gonna have basel notches but after breaking the second one of it became a stem, could use some help with my technique so all comments are welcome, Bub(http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt320/bubncheryl/handpad007.jpg)

Whooo Doggie! If those are Rhyolite, you don't need anyone to critique your technique! Those are nice, from some hard stuff!

With out seeing what you notch with, I will guess that it is too thick and the side is hitting your notch after the flake pops off. If your notcher is copper, hammer it flat so it looks like a screwdriver. You have to flatten out the tip of the notcher if it is antler or bone, you will have to keep re working them as you use them. Bill

Bill, their actually pretty thin, less than 3/16", and I'm useing a horseshoe nail to notch with but I am haveing trouble with them stalling out, saw a punch notcher on you tube that sounds alot like you're idea but their's a notch in the tip, look's like I might give them both a try, thank's Bub

I got it from a gem and lapidary store, all marked rhyolite, the owner who is a knapper as well said their are lot's of differant types, and even that mookite is a form of rhyolite, Bub
