Just oil it. TB3 dries brown, and not clear.

I coat my skins with a thin coat of TBIII as a vapor barrier before sealing with Tru-Oil.

I must concur....I have always coated mine with Titebond....then Sealed the Bows with Tru Oil or Urethane's....never use Artificial Sealers on unbacked Bows...but always seal a Snake Skin...at least I do.

thanks to all you advice, seems like the light coat of tite bond has the most votes so that's what I'm going to do.And as soon as I learn how to post pictures I will.

A snake skin is already waterproof, so I don't know why you'd want to seal it with glue, but... to each his own! ;D

Tru-oil for me, no glue

This is what I do.   I always remove the scales with the back edge of a spoon before gluing to the limbs. I'll glue them down with slightly watered down tb2 applied to both the skin and bow limb. After their all set up and dried and trimmed/filed or sanded to limb shape I rub in some more watered down tb2 against the grain of the scales. Then smooth it down with the grain with your finger.  It helps all the little loose edges of the scales lay down flat.  After its all dried I'll lightly hit it with some 600 grit.  Not saying its the right way to do it, it's just the way I do it.   Scott
