Just got back to the house from town, and found this on the doorstep. Wife thinks I've rocks in my head, but I'll keep chipping until I'm dead. Got another one just like this one scheduled for delivery too.

just wondering, seen a lot of root beer posted, what is it and where do ya get it, Bub

Its TX flint.
A lot of rock dealers sell it..
Most of it is really good stuff.

thanks

Yep Texas is where it came from. I took one of the smallest nodules, and knocked a couple thin flakes off. Neat material, although I've been wailing on coral lately, so need to back off on the horsepower so as not to smash it to smithereens. Thinking that this stuff is going to make some fine points, and be good to practice on.

nice i have some more coming this week too. only thing with rootbeer i found it has limestone in it sometimes as thick as the outer core. still great material though.

Yep, that looks like some perd with all the white inclusions which rootbeer and perd are notorious for - I guess their both variations of the same thing. I read that all this TX stuff is Edwards Plateau. That is obviously some of the higher grade stuff you got there though! Makes me want to hit a peice of it ;).
