Does anybody have any trade points they'd like to get rid of? I'd like to make a few turkey whacker arrows for this spring. If so, what would you be looking for in trade?
Thanks,
CP

I've got a good bit of bandsaw blade that makes real good trade points if you'd like to cut some out yourself.
-
Do you just cut out the lengths with a hacksaw Jonathan?
-
I just break the blade to shorten it. I cut out the points with a dremel tool. I've annealed all this, so you'd have to heat treat it, but after you do that it'll hold a razor sharp edge really well. Makes pretty good lightweight knives, too.

I've never worked with bandsaw blades for points before - how do you break it? Put it in a vice with the length you want sticking out and whack it off?
Also, what would you be interested in for trade?

Just bend it back and forth a couple of times at the length you want and it'll snap. Of course, this is easier with longer lengths. I just break it down to smaller pieces for storage and cut what I want from there.

Sounds pretty good. What would you want in trade?
-
I'm open to pretty much anything. I do need some sinew if you've got any, but I'm really not picky.
-
What's your sinew for and how much for enough stock to make 10 points about 1.5" long?
-
Just need some to haft a half dozen or so points on, don't need too much.
-
Ok. Sounds more than reasonable. Let me look at my stash and see how much I have. I'll get back to you on it Monday. Thanks.

Sounds good.

what kind of bandsaw blade do you have that snaps if bent?
-
I may have a few that won't be used. Probably average 150gr.
How many do you need?
I'm not in a rush to gid rid of em, but if you need em, We'll figure out a trade.
I normally only use em on my canes but have been thinking about trying some on my woodies.
Takes a lot of effort to make a good hunting arrow.
