The recent Heavy rains got the wallows going, so yesterday I when to one of my old Bowhunting set ups, perfect for the shorter range of pistol hunting.
got there by 2 P.M. and only had to wait 45 minutes before this nice young boar came down the trail, he immediatly got into the wallow and started doing his normal hog things ;D i had the scope on him for a while, he gave me a couple of good shots but I passed for the best I could get, he than finally faced me, put his head down to drink, that's when I squeezed the trigger, the Pistol jumped in my hand and after when I looked the hog was still ( only for a few seconds ;) ), ......lights out.
I was shooting a .357 conical 105gr bullet

Right on Manny, I've been researching the big bore air riffles lately. I love the air guns and love my 22 NP XL but want a big bore someday. ;D

let me know when you're ready Keenan I'll give you a bit of feedback on several options,...heck you can always fly over and shoot a few ;D ;D ;D

Manny Thanks, Lulyn and I are long overdue for a trip to your area. ;D We have been thinking along that line of thought when things on the home front settle a little.

Great stuff Manny, bow or air gun I always like seeing your hunting photos :)

Where do you live Nomadic Pirate?

Manny, nice pistol and sweet, little porker. He'll be tasty.

Yeah Eddie, he came in after such little wait ( that never, ever happens ) that I was thinking, maybe I should wait for a bigger boar, than I remembered my motto, " You get only one chance per day "....so I put the crosshairs on him and started the dance ;) ;) ;)

If ever I find myself with a plane ticket to Hula-land, I am going to stuff my luggage with bribes/gifts for you Manny in hopes that I can spend a day hunting with you....looks like you are having a good time bagging invasive non-natives (oh crap...I'm one of those!)
-
No need for bribes/gifts ;D.... it would be my plesure taking you out for a hunt
-
Damn you got a distributorship for all the airguns or what??? Looks like fun!
-
cherokeekc.. he lives where no one in their right mind would think of living.. the untamed out back known as hawaii..
lol

No, but hunting over here is very limited, the headshot option and pinpoint accuracy to be able to thread the needle in thick cover surely gave me an edge, ......still have to get pretty close, not much more than bowhunting range, and yes that makes it a lot of fun indeed ;D ;D

Git er done Manny. I like your hunting posts as well. I also like your quote " you only get one chance per day". If I had taken that approach I would have scored a whitetail this year, which I did'nt. Danny

Does everyone else know where Nomadic Pirate is located except me? He keeps talking about hunting being limited over here and no one is asking where over here is.
-
oh i c now. sorry still gettn used to the layout of PA. i didnt bother reading more than a few posts after my first either. just seemed like nomadic pirate ignored the question. i was just curious anyway.

Yep, today i was hunting and a nice saw came in, pretty early in the day, she never gave me a shot allways facing directly away, than the wind swirled and I got busted, I thought, well, it's still early something else will come along,...wrong :D, that was my one chance for the day ;) ;)
-
LOL, cherokee, if you ask a question, you better than read all the following posts :D :D :D
-
I asked you directly so expectd the answer from you so i just skimmed your posts looking for the answer. but its fine im not worried about it, it was my fault for not seeing it.

Manny, I see the island is covered with invasive Australian Pine, or Brazilian oak, or any number of other names, since Australian pine is a misnomer, as Australia has no native pines, just imports for timber, and paper. But have you ever attempted a quickie bow out of it? Steve Parnell came over to Eddies, last week, and he had one he had made out of it, and I was impressed, enough, that I just might go cut some. I always thought it too brittle. It is supposed to be in the Hickory family, as I was once told a long time ago.
I know it will rot pretty quickly in the outdoors. But it was just a sapling bow, and very snappy. ;)
