Well I can't help but have multiple projects going....so I started another about 2 hours ago. After seeing a few ball headed clubs and the recent one posted, I had to try it. The wood I am using is a piece of winged elm I think.
This is the wood before I started. I cut this about 2 1/2 years ago, and it has been under my barn since.

In this one I have removed the bark with my drawknife. You can see the bug tunnels under the bark, but they have not messed with the inner wood. It is a very tough piece of wood also.

More updates to come as I do them. Maybe this will turn into a build along or something.

I got so much inspiration from all of you, I'm always happy to hear I could give some back!
Are you doing a certain type?
-
Not really sure. I am going to just see what the wood gives me. I do plan to keep the top line of the wood. And I am going to start out with the ball as large as I can get. Then work down if I need to.
-
Hhat's you overall length and what's your diameter at the bottom?
-
Medicinewheel, it is 26" overall. The big end 3" wide x 4" deep.

This is the next step. I rough sawed it. Rasped it in and sanded some. It is a long way from finish. I plan to take my scraper to it to put in the detail I want.

Looks good so far!
The one I made is 20" long, head is 2.5 X 3"
