Title: rhyolite and mook
Post by: jamie on December 13, 2010, 07:37:54 am
piece of mook  was great to work. had some fractures in it but it chipped like butter and the color is awesome. still have a half dozen or so spalls of it and im jonesing to chip at it. the red one is some type of south american rhyolite. BRUTAL material. really like it though. gotta hit it hard and when pressure flaking you need the very best platform you can make or it will step fracture bad. was only given a small turtleback and a few flakes of the rhyolite. love to get more of it. think it is very similar to the piece james parker was working on at the classic a couple years back.

Those look darn good, Jamie. If you are talking about the red ryolite James made that big blade from I brought it. It actually came from New Mexico and I still have a little bit left.
