I went deer hunting on FT campbell yesterday in a area iv have not been in before. I was walking down a dry creek bed and it was loaded with flint. I have messed with the rock on ft campbell before and never found anything good. but i seen a cool looking piece and i grabbed it and it was heavy, very heavy. I grabbed 3 more pieces and put them in my pack. I did not test them in the field because i did not want to spook the deer by smacking rocks together.
I got home and the stuff works good and has some cool bulls eyes in it.
I made this cumberland out of a piece, The cumberland is 5 inches on the dot and fully fluted on both sides.
I cracked into another piece and it liked like a jaw breaker inside but one of the layers were separated and it fell apart before i could get it finished. I Cooked the flakes last night they will be cool enough to see if they tuck the heat or not by the time i get home. Here are some photos, the rock the cumberlands on is the stuff.

Nice one Jesse. That looks like some cool rock.

Killer job on the Cumberland!
And nice find on the rock. It is a little strange to me that there is more
than one sphere, or birdseye, per nodule.
Thanks for the pics,
Joe

awesome stuff
-
Joe this piece was the 1st one i picked up. It looked like 3 small nodules fuzed togather.

Ohhh now, that would make sense. :) Thanks Jesse.

Well i cooked some flakes of this new rock.
the 1st pick is raw. The bi-face did not make it, one of the layers was separated in the core.
I cooked the flakes up and it slicked up. Made this little pine tree outa the largest flake.
I was real aggressive cooking this rock. Put it on 240* for 4 hrs thin i ramped it strait to 500* and held it for 8hrs.
That fact that it tuck the heat tells me its part of the ft pain formaction and not part of the hornstone formaction.

Insane,,,,,, ;) Not sure how you did that but that is awesome.
