After a few years of reading the message boards and buying the magazine I finally decided it was time to post a bow. Been making a lot of laminated bows the past year. This one is about 66" tip-to-tip and has three laminations (IPE, Osage, and Hard Maple) with a back and belly of bamboo. The bamboo on the belly has been torched totally black making it an extremely resilient belly not to mention cool looking. It draws 53#'s at 28"...it will smoke my hunting weight arrows down range. Since the pic I have added string silencers and the arrow shelf/window leather. Robustus (James Parker) has had a big influence on my efforts over the last...everything I thought that "you can't do when making bows..." has pretty much been laid aside. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Glad I could be the first to chime in-that is a BEAUTY of a bow-love the profile and handle combo, usually dont get into the laminates but this make me want to try one. Thanks for posting-Hammertime

Thank you all for the compliments. Bamboo is remarkable. Having said that, I had horrible luck with it a couple of years ago. I had six or seven out of ten pull a splinter. Finally I just got some more bamboo and every thing got better right away. This design is fast. I get some string slap with it because it keeps so much reflex even at a high brace hiegth. Having said that...I hunt with one like this...so I use heavy arrows and string silencers...works for me.

i believe some native people have and still use bamboo as a string
its used on bows by natives in rain forest (if i remember right).they usually have long bows with excesivly long arrows
and the draw is short, but they use a thin sliver of bow as the string
i think a year or so back, someone on here posted a pic or two of just such a weapon

thats a really cool looking bow, nice work

Wow, that's a really nice bow!

Thanks again for all of your compliments. Its definitely encouraging. I have been working on getting some more outer limb movement on this design but that reflex at full draw is addictive...I have found this bow can really stack them out to 25 yards...
