hello all. i have recently cut this piece of vine maple down with a knife and beater stick while in training for SERE in the united states air force.. cut it down about seven months ago and finally got around to making it a month and a half ago... its pretty wild grain and holds an inch and a half of reflex after shooting. reflex is natural.. i know thw tiller looks off but as you all well know character bows can be wild looking... backed with diamond back rattle snake and 50lb @ 28 inches.. smooth draw and sweet shooter... Had a lot of fun with this boww.. was wondering if anyone else out there has a crazy character bow to show... and what u all think about this one. around 66 inches n/n

God bless you for your service....As far as character goes.....That is an understatement with this weapon!
I believe you have brought new meaning to tillering. Being a survivalist...I am in awe...
Fine job. This explains our great country and those that serve in a pic!....[/b]You don't get better than that!!!!!!!!!!!

I've tillered and tamed some crazy character bows, because I love challenges, but I have to admit that I might have walked away from that one. Congratulations,
-
Delightful, that's worthy of a sword and sorcery movie set, but better 'cos it actually shoots.
Gotta find me a wobbly stave (maybe if I look for wobblies I find some straight ones too)

There should be a new BOM category called "Character bow" :)

Very nice job on that one, I believe your title says it best. :) :) Got it bookmarked for November Self BOM contest as well. Looks like it will be a great contender! :)
-
Thanks guys! I'm almost done getting the tips shaped up then I will send pics of those..
-
Oh and I think it is cool how you made a hole in the snake skin to accommodate the knot in one of the limbs. Pretty cool. :)
-
That is one serious character! And you must be some character, too. After all, your nickname on here is Ms Pink. >:D
Keep up the good work!

I know that this a fine line...BUT...Not a bad idea...
What do you Moderators and Administrators Think about it?
-
I personally don't like the idea. If we do that then someone else will want a board bow category and someone else will think it is unfair to not have a horn bow category and then someone will want a recurve category and pretty soon you will have so many categories there will only be one bow per category. This is just a friendly contest anyway no sense in making it any more complicated. Character bows are self bows (usually ;D ) I think things should stay as they are. :)
-
Agree Josh, plus how would you determine what gets put in.....what if a stave has one knot- would it qualify? Categories work as they are IMO ;)
-
loved how it looked fairly "normal" until the last few pics, that is awesome, great work, that would have been firewood if i cut that down, heh, there are no words to describe what you did here, amazing is a start ;D

OOO KAAAY Josh ::)
You are right. Didn't think of the snow ball effect...And here at PA, I can surely see it happening ;D ;D ;D
BTW that was a quick chime-in! Didn't scare ya did I? ;D ;D ;)
God bless

cause thats one killer roller coaster you got there ;D

Well done Character bows often more than hold their own in BOM contests too. It's not like they struggle to win in the catergory where they are at. JMO
