This little bitty osage ,a deflex-reflex,is my granddaughters first bow. After doing a little research on our fine site, and gleaning info from several of y'all, concerning draw weights for children, this is what I came up with.I'm calling the first draw 8#@12",to about15# @16",although I have already gone several inches past that,by accident,so it should be good for several years of safe shooting.40" tip to tip.It is a little less than 3/4" wide at the handle, then tapers evenly to 1/4" tips.Cherry overlays, and a cane grip. This little toot will shoot a 296 grain kid arrow 90yards at 16"of draw.Sorry it's just me showing the bow,as the baby is'nt due till the first of January. ;D God Bless

Thanks a bunch y'all,I appreciate it. I can hardly wait for the baby to be born. Eddie,I know,I'm fixin' to go cane huntin' real soon to make some matching arrows to make an outfit. Frank, the handle is just scarlet dyed rattan.I'll get you a picture. Pappy, your right, these little bows are a handful to tiller .Thanks again, God Bless

You just can't seem to get enough of well crafted Hickory bow.
Very nice, Pete.
-
Thanks a lot gmc. This one is osage, but I just posted a kid hickory bow too. Thanks and God Bless
-
Dang, I thought they were both Hickory. You still do quite well with Hickory my man.....
-
Pete, sweet little shooter you made.
-
Thanks for the handle pics!
I've done similar, sanding the rattan surface will make it take the stain way better.
-
Thanks again fella's.Frank, your correct,if you sand the rind off you will get a very even dye job.On these ,I pulled the dry rattan through a folded piece of sandpaper one trip, then mixed the dye in the same hot water used to soften the rattan.I like the irregular pattern of color it leaves with scant sanding. It's kind of different.Thanks. God Bless

God bless you and your family, Pete. I am happy for you. That is an awesome bow. I would back off the brace height a bit so that the recurves are actually touching the string. :) Jawge

Nice work kida riminds me of a plains indian bow...I like it!

Thanks George and Russ. The little DR already has only a 4" brace height, and if I lower it any more, she'll be slappin' her little wrist.I can't have that happenin'. ;) Thanks fellas God Bless
