Title: Something from Mr. Parker
Post by: stringstretcher on November 01, 2010, 07:28:30 pm
A while back I offered for trade a taper jig for a knapped knife.  Mr. Parker,(robustus) said he would trade me and make me a knife.  Never did I expect anything like this.  The workmanship in his knapping is simple awesome and his craftsmanship is something to behold.  I thank you very very much James for the knife and will carry it with pride.

yes it is some of the last really good rhyolite that i have,, works as good as the best danish flint ive ever knapped,,,i made a few type IV danish daggers out of the same stuff a few years back,,it stitches very good on the handles and pommel... wished i could get more ,but that rock came out of the ground at 30 feet deep.. ill never see anymore like that i guess... some ive got and a few points had spots and veins of white feldspar with iron pyrite crystals and veins running through it.. really awsome looking and very rare occurence in this type of stone... some knappers call it the king of stone..............james

Incredible as usual James! That is by far the best looking rhyolite I have seen. Sure would like to find some like that.

What a beautiful knife!

It is getting tough to find quality Rhyolite.  I always have my eyes open for a new source.  You do it justice, James.
