Check with a local floor or decking specialist for ipe. A 2x4 with a few 2x4 blocks are all you need for a form. Do yourself a favor and buy Dean Torges DVD "Hunting the bamboo backed Bow" and if you can afford it his book "Hunting the Osage Bow". Both great resources.

Yes, I just picked up 2 10' 1x4 ipe boards for $2 a board foot, or $20 a board at a decking place. They were so intrigued that I was going to make a bow that they went out and pawed through their stack of wood with me to find the best grain. It was great fun. They asked that I send a picture of the bow back to them. I ripped the board in half on the band saw and should have enough to do at least 3 bows.
