Title: hardin
Post by: Bone pile on October 17, 2010, 04:22:21 pm
I bought a nice chunk of noviculite from Jessie up at the Flint Ridge gathering.I want to make a Hardin out of it so I figgered I might try to make a couple before I mess up a nice rock.I made a couple today .one is out of some Texas stuff. The second one is out of burlington,I lost an ear on the first try so I just punched  notched up alittle further. It looks wierd with such a long handle ......o well(http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk33/Bonepile/DSCN1227.jpg)

I think I'll wait to hit that noviculite ,maybe try one out of something else first
Have a good un'

Nice points. I'm brand spanking new to knapping (first attempt yesterday) and Nugget sent me home with some johnstone, scrap pieces of obsideon, Kentucky chert, some sort of flint? and a small piece of novaculite  and out of all those, I think that novaculite was the easiest thing to beat on and get to agree with you. Not to mention beautiful stuff.

Beautiful work! I can't wait to start knapping!  ;D
Did you mention Flint Ridge - as in, the Knap In in southeastern Ohio? (I'm sure there are others, but that one was just last month.)

The Points you see in the museums in Chile all have long bases, and if mounting in an antler the long bases work really well.  Great job.  A/ho Pokie
