Title: Locators?

How many put a locator in their grip?

I may re-do mine to take it out.

What kind of locater, Pete?   I make bulbous handles so my hand is in the same place every time I grab the bow.

I always use one. I'm liable to shape the handle very much like that on a recurve...shelf and all.  My shooting is so crappy I need all the help I can get :-[

unless its an elb,i always use some sort
usually the dish for the web of the hand
or bulbous
or a little of both

same here; plus a cork or leather build up under the knuckles (also on ELBs).

                      Built my first Locator Handle ever at this Years Classic...never used anything before that...purely instinctive till then...but I kinda like it....

My first bow, ash, had a small roundheaded brass nail set in through the belly side of the handle where the web between thumb and forefinger met.  My current every-once-in-a-while (used to be every day, but I am lazy) shooter has a John Strunk style lashing over the grip and my forefinger lays on the second line of lacing.

I have also added 200 yr old Italian handmade trade era glass beads into the grip lacing to anchor the botton of the hand.  Probably as many options for grip indicators as there are bowyers out there.

I guess that's another reason I shouldn't post here...prolly not primitive enough, huh?    ::)

I try to. Most of my selfbow handles are getting smaller and wider though, so I'm usually winding up with a straight grip. Like 'em on the glassies I make though.

I'm just curious why you would want to go through the trouble of removing it if it's already there?  I think if you're doing any hunting with the bow, you'd probably appreciate it.
