Post by: NTProf on October 15, 2010, 12:40:41 am
What is the best finish to use for Ipe and other oily woods?

I've used Tru0Oil but it takes a few days for the first few coats to dry. You can seal it with shellac first then use whichever finish you normally use. Do a test first to be sure.  ;)

ive used tung oil with good results\just rub the first couple of coats in by hand real good
and dont put it on to heavy,as it will take much longer to dry

Call me lazy, but I usually just rub on Tung oil and have not had problems.    Ron
